Just got engaged, what next?
Firstly, Congratulations on your engagement! We know you’re overwhelmed with all the emotions and feelings but you need to take a breather and start thinking of what to do next. You might be thinking to take a while before planning to start planning, but you can never start too early. Planning a wedding can be a stressful process but don’t stress we’ve got you covered! Here are a few things you should start thinking about and planning for your BIG DAY.
First, set a date. It seems as though everyone is getting married lately, and dates are being booked out by the minute at all the lovely venues. The first thing you want to do is lock down a date early enough. Even if your wedding isn’t in six months or even a year. You wouldn't want to find out if the venue you want is booked out on the date you want. So sit down with your fiance or fiancee, pick a date and move to the next thing.
Okay, the date is set…what next? Set a budget. You know how you go to the store without a list and end up buying things you don't need; that is something you do not want to do with your wedding. A lot of things might seem attractive and would "seem nice to have" but you don’t want to overspend and then be stuck with debt after your wedding. Set a budget; then prioritise the most important services e.g Food, Photographer, Decoration, and Venue. Now if you have a little extra cash left you can make arrangements for some entertainers, or some ice cream and waffles e.t.c.
Now that those two things are set, the next thing you want to do is figure out your Venue. Where do you want to get married? In an elegant hotel in Greece, or a remote villa in Italy. If you’re not sure yet, that’s okay. The next point is just for you.
Next, you need a wedding planner. Why? Your wedding planner will help you outsource the best vendors for the job. They will help negotiate prices and payment plans with the vendors. They will help with organisation and coordination on that day. As the bride or groom, you do not want to be running around on that day, making sure vendors are keeping to time or doing the right thing. That is what your wedding planner is for. Your wedding planner also helps find a venue that suits your taste, makes sure you stay on budget, and creates mood boards of what you want your day to look like.
